DTC U1300: Class 2 Circuit (Short To Ground): Testing

  1. If instrument cluster diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If instrument cluster diagnostic system check was not performed, go to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Disconnect splice pack SP205 connector. Using test light, backprobe between battery voltage and splice pack SP205 terminal "A" (Purple wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  4 .
  3. Repair short to ground in Purple wire between splice pack SP205 and Data Link Connector (DLC). See appropriate wiring diagram in DATA LINK CONNECTORS article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. Go to step  25 .
  4. Using test light, backprobe between battery voltage and splice pack SP205 terminal "G" (Gray wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  7 .
  5. Leave test light connected as specified in step 4)  . Disconnect instrument cluster Gray 24-pin connector. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  7 .
  6. Repair short to ground in Gray wire between instrument cluster and splice pack SP205. Go to step  25 .
  7. Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  25 .
  8. Using test light, backprobe between battery voltage and splice pack SP205 terminal "M" (Light Green wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  12 .
  9. Leave test light connected as specified in step 8)  . Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Pink 24-pin connector C2. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  11 .
  10. Repair short to ground in Light Green wire between BCM connector C2 and splice pack SP205. Go to step  25 .
  11. Replace BCM. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. Go to step  25 .
  12. Using test light, backprobe between battery voltage and splice pack SP205 terminal "L" (White wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  16 .
  13. Leave test light connected as specified in step 12)  . Disconnect A/C-heater control connector. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  15 .
  14. Repair short to ground in White wire between A/C-heater control and splice pack SP205. Go to step  25 .
  15. Replace A/C-heater control. See appropriate AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING SERVICE & REPAIR article. Go to step  25 .
  16. Using test light, backprobe between battery voltage and splice pack SP205 terminal "B" (Dark Green wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  20 .
  17. Leave test light connected as specified in step 16)  . Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Blue 80-pin connector C1. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  19 .
  18. Repair short to ground in Dark Green wire between splice pack SP205 and PCM connector C1, terminal No. 59. Go to step  25 .
  19. Replace PCM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Go to step  25 .
  20. Using test light, backprobe between battery voltage and splice pack SP205 terminal "E" (Light Blue wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  24 .
  21. Leave test light connected as specified in step 20)  . Disconnect Electronic Brake Control Module/Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBCM/EBTCM) connector. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  23 .
  22. Repair short to ground in Light Blue wire between EBCM/EBTCM and splice pack SP205. Go to step  25 .
  23. Replace EBCM/EBTCM. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK/TCS article in BRAKES. Go to step  25 .
  24. Replace splice pack SP205. Go to next step.
  25. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect all connectors and components. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recheck system operation.
