DTC B0608: Power MODING Malfunction (IGN/Crank Signal): Testing

  1. If instrument cluster diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If instrument cluster diagnostic system check was not performed, go to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Disconnect instrument cluster Gray 24-pin connector. Turn ignition switch to ACCESSORY position. Using test light, backprobe between instrument cluster harness connector terminal A8 (Purple wire) and ground. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  4 .
  3. Repair short to voltage in Purple wire between instrument cluster connector terminal A8 and fuse block. Go to step  15 .
  4. Leave test light connected as specified in step 2)  . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  6 .
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Using test light, backprobe between instrument cluster harness connector terminal A3 (Purple wire) and ground. If test light illuminates, go to step  7 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step  8 .
  6. Repair poor connection or open in Purple wire between instrument cluster connector terminal A8 and fuse block. Go to step  15 .
  7. Repair short to voltage in Purple wire between instrument cluster connector terminal A3 and fuse block. Go to step  15 .
  8. Leave test light connected as specified in step 5)  . Turn ignition switch to START position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  10 .
  9. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Using test light, backprobe between instrument cluster harness connector terminal B12 (Pink wire) and ground. If test light illuminates, go to step  12 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step  11 .
  10. Repair poor connection or open in Purple wire between instrument cluster connector terminal A3 and fuse block. Go to step  15 .
  11. Leave test light connected as specified in step 9)  . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If test light illuminates, go to step  13 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step  14 .
  12. Repair short to voltage in Pink wire between instrument cluster and fuse block. Go to step  15 .
  13. Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using scan tool, clear all DTCs. Recheck system operation.
  14. Repair poor connection or open in Pink wire between instrument cluster and fuse block. Go to next step.
  15. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect all connectors and components. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recheck system operation.
