DTC B0602: Oscillator Malfunction: Description

Instrument cluster uses an oscillator to send and interpret data between other components on class 2 serial data line. It sends or receives different bytes of information between instrument cluster and other vehicle components. When vehicle is first turned on, an internal test is performed by instrument cluster to determine if oscillator is operating properly.

DTC B0602 will set when instrument cluster is unsuccessful at verifying operation of oscillator or when oscillator is disrupted by outside radio frequency interference. When DTC B0602 is set, SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator light will illuminate.

Under all fault conditions, a current DTC B0602 requires an ignition cycle to become a history code. If conditions for malfunction no longer exist, history DTC will clear after 100 consecutive ignition cycles. DTC B0602 will also clear when scan tool is used to clear codes.
