Front Brake Rotor: Removal

  1. Remove caliper and wire aside. See FRONT BRAKE CALIPER . Mark rotor in relation to hub for installation reference. Remove rotor. Resurface rotors using equipment manufacturer's recommended procedures. Ensure rotors are within specification. See FRONT DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS  table.
  2. With rotor still mounted on brake lathe, place a non-directional finish on rotor surfaces. Using a power sanding disc with 120 grit aluminum oxide sandpaper for a minimum of 60 seconds on each side of rotor. A sanding block with 150 grit aluminum oxide sandpaper may be used in place of a power sanding disc. After sanding rotor, clean surface with denatured alcohol.
