Low Coolant Indicator Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect low coolant sensor connector, located in engine compartment at bottom of coolant reservoir tank. Connect fused jumper wire between low coolant sensor connector terminal "C" (Yellow/Black wire) and ground. Turn ignition on. If LOW COOLANT indicator lights, go to next step. If LOW COOLANT indicator does not light, check Yellow/Black wire for an open circuit or high resistance. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C1 and check for good terminal contact at terminal E1 (Yellow/Black wire). See Figure. If all circuits and wiring are okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Measure voltage between low coolant sensor connector terminal "B" (Brown wire) and ground. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check Brown wire for an open circuit, high resistance, or short to ground.
  3. Measure continuity between low coolant sensor connector terminal "A" (Black/White wire) and ground. If less than 5 ohms are measured, check low coolant sensor connector for poor terminal contact. If terminal contact is okay, replace low coolant sensor. If more than 5 ohms are measured, check Black/White wiring for an open circuit or high resistance.
