Low Coolant Indicator Always On

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect low coolant sensor connector, located in engine compartment at bottom of coolant reservoir tank. Start engine. If LOW COOLANT indicator remains lit, go to next step. If LOW COOLANT indicator is not lit, connect a fused jumper wire between coolant level sensor switch connector terminal "C" (Yellow/Black wire) and ground. If LOW COOLANT INDICATOR remains lit, go to step 3). If LOW COOLANT INDICATOR goes out, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C1. Check for short to ground in Yellow/Black wire of connector C1. See Figure. Repair Yellow/Black wire, if necessary. Check instrument cluster connector for proper connection. If Yellow/Black wire and instrument cluster connector C1 connections are okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Check HVAC fuse (10-amp) in instrument panel fuse block. Check Brown wire circuit between fuse block and coolant level sensor. Check Black ground wire of coolant level sensor for open. Check for proper connections at coolant level sensor connector. If any problem, is found, repair problem and retest system. If no problems are found, replace coolant level sensor.
