Inside Rearview Mirror Will Not Dim
- If diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check was not performed, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Disconnect automatic day/night mirror connector. Connect test light between automatic day/night mirror harness connector terminals No. 2 (Black/White wire) and No. 3 (Light Green wire). Move gearshift lever in and out of Reverse. If test light illuminates when gearshift lever is in Reverse, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate when gearshift lever is in Reverse, go to step 4).
- Connect test light between automatic day/night mirror harness connector terminals No. 1 (Brown wire) and No. 2 (Black/White wire). If test light illuminates, go to step 6). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 5).
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Move gearshift lever to Reverse. If back-up lights are on, go to step 7). If back-up lights are not on, locate and repair problem in exterior lighting system. See appropriate wiring diagram in EXTERIOR LIGHTS article.
- Check for open in Brown wire between automatic day/night mirror, rear bussed electrical center (located under right side of rear seat), and instrument panel bussed electrical center (located near rear of glove box). Check for open in Black/White wire between automatic day/night mirror and ground. Repair circuit as necessary. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Replace automatic day/night mirror. See REARVIEW MIRROR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Repair open in Light Green wire between automatic day/night mirror and instrument panel bussed electrical center (located near rear of glove box). Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
