Service Engine Soon Indicator Is On

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect IPC connector. Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between IPC connector terminal A6 and ground. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace IPC.
  2. Check Brown/White wire between IPC connector terminal A6 and PCM connector C1 terminal No. 25 for a short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAM  . If short to ground is present, repair as necessary. If short to ground is not present, see appropriate BASIC TESTING - 3.8L article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
