Low Coolant Indicator Test

  1. If LOW COOLANT indicator illuminates with low coolant level, go to step 4). If LOW COOLANT indicator does not illuminate, disconnect surge tank low coolant switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect jumper wire between surge tank low coolant switch connector terminal "A" (Gray wire) and ground.
  2. If LOW COOLANT indicator does not illuminate, check Gray and Yellow/Black wires for open. If Gray wire is okay, replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) R & I  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If LOW COOLANT indicator illuminates, go to next step.
  3. Connect jumper wire between surge tank low coolant switch connector terminals "A" (Gray wire) and "B" (Black wire). If indicator illuminates, replace surge tank low coolant switch. If indicator does not illuminate, repair open in Black wire to ground.
  4. If LOW COOLANT indicator illuminates and coolant level is okay, disconnect surge tank low coolant switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
  5. If indicator does not illuminate, replace surge tank low coolant switch. If indicator illuminates, check Gray wire for short to ground. If Gray wire is okay, replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) R & I  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
