Torque Axis Engine Mount: Removal

NOTE: Numbers in parenthesis refer to the numbers in illustrations.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Using Engine Support Fixture J 28467-A and Lifting Bracket J 38854, raise the engine slightly to take weight off engine mounts. See SPECIAL TOOLS .
  3. Remove accessory drive belt(s). See DRIVE BELT ROUTING article.
  4. Remove the through bolt (181) from the torque axis (front) engine mount (182). See Fig 1.
  5. Lift the engine with the Engine Support Fixture (J 28467-A) until the power steering reservoir touches the strut tower cross brace (180).
  6. Loosen the bottom 2 bolts (188) on the torque axis (front) engine mount (187). See Fig 2.
  7. Remove the A/C line clip (186) and the top 2 bolts (185) on the torque axis (front) engine mount (187).
  8. Remove 2 bolts (191) and nut (189) attaching the engine torque axis mount bracket assembly (190) to the front of the engine. See Fig 3.
