Front Cover: Installation

  1. Inspect timing chain and sprockets for wear. See TIMING CHAIN & SPROCKETS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Replace if necessary.
  2. To install, reverse removal procedure using NEW gasket. Coat cover bolts with thread sealant prior to installation.
  3. Install crankshaft sensor and shield. Mount crankshaft balancer onto Crankshaft Sensor Gauge (J-37089). See Fig 1. Replace crankshaft pulley/balancer if gauge contacts balancer at any point.
  4. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Coat sealing surface of crankshaft pulley/balancer shaft and seal with oil prior to installation.
