Cylinder Head: Removal

  1. Remove intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove exhaust manifold. See EXHAUST MANIFOLD  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. On front cylinder head applications, disconnect spark plug wires. Remove engine lift bracket and valve cover. Remove exhaust crossover pipe and cooling fan. Remove alternator, ignition coil and bracket. Remove A/C compressor bracket bolt.
  3. On rear cylinder head, disconnect spark plug wires. Remove exhaust crossover pipe. Remove power steering pump with hoses attached and position aside. Remove heater pipe from front cover housing. Remove transaxle fill tube.
  4. Remove rocker arms, push rods and guide plates. See ROCKER ARMS & PUSH RODS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove cylinder head bolts, cylinder head and gasket.
