Valve Spring Installed Height

  1. Install valve, valve retainer and keepers. Pull upward on valve, and measure height from top of spring seat to spring side of valve retainer. See Fig 1.
  2. Ensure spring installed height is within specification. See VALVES & VALVE SPRINGS SPECIFICATIONS  under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS. If measurement exceeds specification, add shims under the valve spring to obtain correct height.
