Cylinder Head: Inspection

  1. Inspect cylinder head for warpage at deck and manifold surfaces. Resurface cylinder head if warpage exceeds specification. See CYLINDER HEAD SPECIFICATIONS  under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
  2. After resurfacing, use a depth micrometer to measure distance from deck surface to 3 cast pads. See Fig 1. Replace cylinder head if dimension is less than .044" (1.12 mm). New cylinder head dimension should be .054-.066" (1.37-1.68 mm).
