Fuel Level Input Test

  1. Disconnect fuel tank unit connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a voltmeter, ensure battery voltage is present between terminal "C" (Pink/Black wire) and terminals "E" (Black/White wire), "F" (Purple wire), and ground. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check Pink/Black and Black/White wires for an open. Check Purple wire for an open or short circuit to battery. If Purple wire is okay, replace BCM.
  2. Enter BCM diagnosis input BD40. Refer to, in this article, BCM DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE  . Disconnect fuel tank sender connector. Using a fused jumper wire, bridge terminals "C" (Pink/Black wire) and "F" (Purple wire), and bridge terminals "E" (Black/White wire) and "F" (Purple wire). If BCM displays approximately 25, then 0, replace fuel gauge sender. If BCM display is not as specified, check Purple wire for a short circuit to ground. If wire is okay, replace BCM.
