Coil Springs & Insulators: Installation

  1. Replace insulators if damaged or vehicle mileage exceeds 50,000 miles. Install upper and lower insulators on spring. Install springs. See Fig 1 . Ensure tightly wound coils are at the top on all on "C and ""H" bodies without ELC. On all bodies, use holding fixture and transmission jack, install control arm.

  2. Slowly move jack and raise control arm into position. Install front then rear pivot bolts. DO NOT tighten at this time. Attach stabilizer bar to knuckle bracket. DO NOT tighten at this time.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten to specification. Lower vehicle to normal operating height. Tighten pivot nuts or bolts then stabilizer bar bolt to specification.
NOTE: Control arm pivot nuts, bolts and stabilizer bar must be tightened only in proper sequence with vehicle at normal operating height.
