Strut Damper Assembly: Removal

  1. Remove upper strut-to-body mount nuts. Raise and support vehicle. Allow suspension to hang freely. Remove wheel. Install drive axle shaft boot protectors.
  2. If equipped with anti-lock brake system, disconnect wheel speed sensors. Remove brake line clip or bracket bolt. Scribe strut lower mount clamp outline on steering knuckle for camber alignment and reassembly reference.
CAUTION: Support steering knuckle during strut removal to prevent tension from being applied to brake hose. DO NOT overextend drive axle shaft CV joints.
  3. Support steering knuckle to prevent overextending axle shaft. Remove strut-to-steering knuckle retaining bolts. Remove strut assembly. DO NOT chip or scratch coil spring coating.
