Removal & Installation: Notes
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 1988 Buick LeSabre, 1988 Buick Electra, 1987 Buick LeSabre, 1987 Buick Electra, and 1986 Buick LeSabre. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Depressurize brake system. Unplug all electrical connectors from hydraulic unit. Remove pump bolt. Move hydraulic unit aside to gain access to brake pipes. Disconnect brake lines. DO NOT allow brake fluid to come in contact with any electrical connectors.
- From inside passenger compartment, disconnect hydraulic booster push rod from brake pedal. Push dust boot forward past hex on push rod. Separate push rod halves by unthreading the 2 pieces. Remove 2 bolts attaching unit to push rod bracket.
- Remove unit. Front half of push rod will remain in hydraulic unit. See Figure . To install, reverse removal procedure. Bleed brake system after installation of hydraulic unit. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM in this article.
