Valve Spring Installed Height

  1. Install valve, valve retainer and keepers. Pull upward on valve and measure height from top of spring seat to spring side of the valve retainer. See Fig 1.
  2. Spring installed height must be within specification. See ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS tables at end of article. If measurement exceeds specification, add shims under the valve spring to obtain correct height.
