Crankshaft & Bearings

  1. Rear crankshaft oil seal must be installed prior to crankshaft installation. See REAR CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL OVERHAUL in this article.
  2. To align crankshaft thrust surfaces, install all bearings and main caps and tighten all bolts evenly. Loosen all bolts one turn.
  3. Retighten all bolts to 90 ft. lbs. (122 N.m). Using wooden mallet, carefully tap crankshaft forward then backward to align thrust bearing.
