Instrument Cluster

Removal & Installation (Century)

1) Disconnect battery cable. Remove left trim plate. Remove 4 cluster attaching screws. Disconnect speedometer cable from engine compartment (if a 2-piece cable is used) or from transmission.

2) Remove shift indicator clip and pull gear selector lever to "1" position. Pull cluster forward enough to disconnect speedometer cable (depress clip while pulling back on cable).

3) To prevent steering column from getting scratched. Place a clean shop towel over column. On tilt wheel equipped models, lower steering wheel as far as possible, unscrew tilt lever. On all models, tip top of cluster down and work cluster out. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Removal & Installation (Electra & LeSabre)

1) Disconnect battery cable. Remove top cover. Use a coin to turn left trim plate retainers counterclockwise 1/4 turn. Retainers will pop out. Pull left side of trim plate to left.

2) Remove left trim plate. Remove cover plate by pulling out. Remove the 4 screws behind cover plate and remove right side trim plate. Remove 5 bolts holding filler panel. Remove shift indicator clip from steering column collar (note cable routing for installation).

3) Remove 5 bolts holding cluster in dash. Tilt steering wheel all the way down and place gear selector lever in "1". Pull cluster assembly straight out, as this will disconnect electrical connectors from cluster. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Removal & Installation

(Electra Estate Wagon & LeSabre Estate Wagon)

Disconnect battery cable. Remove center trim plate. Remove 2 screws. Pull housing forward until electrical connector and bulb assembly can be disconnected. Rotate bulb and socket assembly while pulling out. Remove cluster housing. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Removal & Installation (Skyhawk)

1) Remove negative battery cable. Remove cluster trim cover. Remove left and right trim covers. Remove 6 screws attaching lens and bezel to cluster carrier.

2) Remove 2 screws holding left side switch pod and 2 screws holding right side switch pod to carrier. Remove 4 screws attaching cluster housing to cluster carrier. Loosen 2 upper steering column attaching bolts and lower steering column.

3) Pull cluster out enough to disconnect 2 left side electrical harness connectors. Disconnect speedometer cable. Remove cluster. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Removal & Installation (Skylark)

1) Disconnect battery cable. Remove steering column cover. Remove left and right trim covers. Remove instrument cluster trim cover. Remove 5 screws attaching lens and bezel to cluster carrier.

2) Loosen upper steering column attaching bolts and lower column. Remove 4 screws attaching cluster to cluster carrier. Pull cluster out slightly and disconnect speedometer cable. Remove cluster. To install, reverse removal procedure.
