System Check

  1. Turn ignition switch to "RUN" position. The digital speedometer segments should light one at a time in a rotating pattern to read "188" and then go off one at a time to a blank display.
  2. The fuel bars should light up, left to right, and then go off right to left. The display should then show fuel remaining in tank. The gauge bars to right of speedometer should display tachometer, "X 100", up to maximum reading then go off.
  3. The gauge display should go to last setting, either tachometer, volts, oil, or temperature, giving present vehicle reading. The odometer should display "188888" and "1888.8", it should then go out and give present reading.
  4. The fasten seat belts indicator should come on (with audible alarm) for about 6 seconds. The unleaded fuel only display should light. The oil/volts and service engine soon indicators should come on. The temperature and brake indicators should come on in "BULB TEST" position of ignition switch.
  5. Press "FUEL GAGE" button. The fuel display should change to an expanded scale showing 1/4 of a tank. If fuel level is above 1/4 tank, the display should return to a full tank display when button is released. If fuel level is below 1/4 tank, the expanded scale display should stay.
  6. Press "METRIC" button. Observe cluster and press again. The speedometer and odometer should change from "MPH" to "KM/HR" and from miles to kilometers and back again.
  7. Press "TRIP SET" button. The trip odometer should reset to zero. Press "GAGE" button several times. The display should change from tachometer, to volts, to oil pressure, to coolant temperature. Press "GAGE" button. until tachometer is displayed. Start engine. The bar graph should show engine RPM.
  8. Turn parking lights on. Slide dimmer control. The "LIGHTS ON" indicator should come on. Digital cluster brightness should decrease when light come on if the dimmer control is not set at maximum brightness.
  9. Turn headlights on and place on high beam. The "HALOGEN" indicator and the high beam indicator in digital cluster should come on. Turn on right and then left turn signals. The turn indicators should blink on and off.
    NOTE: The following digital display functions may appear while driving.
  10. The speedometer displays a maximum indicated speed of 85 MPH (140 km/hr). At speeds greater than 85 MPH the display will flash. With cruise control engaged, "CRUISE" indicator light should come on.
  11. On manual transaxles equipped vehicles, a shift arrow comes on to indicate when to shift for better fuel economy. A "LOW FUEL" display flashes when only 2 bars on fuel gauge are illuminated.
