No Cluster Display
A loss of Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) display and messages can result from the following:
- Loss of 12-volt power to IPC.
- Loss of ground to the IPC.
- Loss of 7-volt power to IPC.
- Ground in 7-volt circuit No. 807 (Purple/White wire) anywhere along its length.
- Internal BCM or IPC fault.
- Remove IPC to access connector. With ignition on and engine not running, connect a test light between IPC connector terminal D2 and ground.
- If tester does not light, repair open in circuit No. 39 (Pink/Black wire) from ignition to IPC terminal D2.
- If tester lights, connect test light between IPC connector terminals C2 and C16 (or C1 and D16). This will check for Central Power Supply (CPS), ignition source and ground to IPC.
- If tester does not light, connect test light from connector terminal C2 to ground. If tester lights, repair open from IPC connector terminals C16 (Black/Red wire) or D16 (Black/Red wire) to CPS ground. If tester does not light, check for short to ground or open in circuit No. 343 (White/Black wire) from IPC to ignition switch.
- Connect test light between IPC connector terminals C3 and C16 (or D3 and D16). If tester lights, check for poor terminal contacts C3, D3, C16 and D16.
- If terminal contacts are good, replace IPC. If tester does not light, remove CPS connector and connect test light from CPS connector terminals C1 to D13, D14, C14, C15 and C16. Note test light.
- If tester does not light on all terminals or dim on terminal C16, CPS is at fault. If tester lights on terminals D13 and D14, short to ground exists in circuits No. 807E (Purple/White wire) or No. 807F (Purple/White wire).
- If tester lights on terminal C14, C15 or bright on C16, related component on which tester lights (BCM module) should be removed. Note test light again. If tester does not light, replace component. If tester lights, repair short to ground in that circuit.
