Instrument Panel - Standard: Description: Notes
Fuel Gauge
When tank is low, resistance of the sender is low. A large flow of current passes through the empty coil and fuel gauge sender resistor. This pulls the pointer of fuel gauge towards "E". At the same time more current is allowed to flow through the "LOW FUEL" indicator, causing it to light.
When tank is full, sender resistance is high. More current flows through the full coil, moving pointer towards "F". Gauge is not affected by voltage changes in the system with 2 coils operating the pointer.
Ignition Key Warning
Voltage is applied to the chime module by "CIG-CLK" fuse. When key is in ignition switch and switch is in "LOCK", "OFF" or "ACCY", and drivers door is open, terminal No. 6 of module is grounded. This sounds alarm.
Tachometer & Turbo Boost Gauge
When ignition switch is in "RUN", "BULB TEST" or "START" position, voltage is available to terminal "A" of the tachometer/turbo boost gauge. When turbo is operating, the turbo boost sensor signals the boost gauge. Gauge then displays how much boost the engine is receiving.
The tachometer/turbo boost gauge at tachometer input receives a signal from the Computer Controlled Coil Ignition (CCCI). Gauge then displays engine RPM.
