Fuel Gauge

When ignition switch is in "RUN", "BULB TEST", or "START" position, voltage is applied through fuse No. 16, instrument cluster and fuel gauge sender. When sender resistance decreases, more current flows through fuel gauge sender and empty coil. At the same time, current in full coil decreases.

Resistance varies according to amount of fuel in tank. Resistance is 90 ohms when tank is full and zero ohms empty.

Oil Gauge

Oil pressure sender is connected to the junction of 2 coils. When oil pressure is low, resistance is low. When oil pressure is high, resistance is 90 ohms. Changing resistance changes current flow through the coils. The magnetic fields of the coils move pointer from low to high.

Tachometer

Voltage pulses are taken from ignition system and sent to the tachometer. Solid state circuits process these pulses into a signal that drives pointer of the tachometer.

Temperature Indicator

With ignition switch in "START" or "BULB TEST" position, indicator is grounded through ignition switch and indicator lights. When coolant temperature rises above 260°F (127°C), temperature sender/switch closes, causing indicator to light.
