Coil Springs & Insulators: Installation

  1. Before installing springs and insulators, inspect condition of insulators. Replace insulators if damaged, or if vehicle mileage exceeds 50,000 miles.
  2. Install upper and lower insulators on spring. Install springs. See Fig 1 . Ensure tightly wound coils are at top on "H" bodies. On all bodies, position Holding Fixture (J-23028-01 ) on transmission jack and raise control arm into position.

  3. Carefully move jack so front pivot bolt and nut can be installed in control arm. Carefully move jack so rear pivot bolt and nut can be installed in control arm. Attach rear stabilizer bar to knuckle bracket.
  4. Install ELC height sensor link to right control arm (if equipped). Connect parking brake cable retaining clip to left control arm. Install wheel and tire assemblies. Remove safety stands and lower vehicle. Tighten pivot bolts or nuts, then tighten stabilizer bar bolts.
NOTE: Control arm pivot bolts should be tightened only in proper sequence with wheels on ground and at normal ride height.
