Removal & Installation ("C" & "H" Bodies)

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove tire and wheel assembly. If replacing right ball joint, remove height sensor link (if equipped). Remove cotter pin and nut from outer end of suspension adjustment link. Separate link from knuckle.
  2. Using a jack, support control arm to prevent coil spring from forcing control arm downward. Remove ball joint cotter pin and castellated nut. Turn nut over and install with flat portion facing upward. Do not tighten nut. Install Puller (J-34505 ) and separate ball joint from control arm by backing off inverted nut against puller.
  3. Install Clamp (J-9519-23 ) and Adapters (J-9519-18 , J-9519-7 , andJ-9519-17 ) to press ball joint from control arm. To install, reverse removal procedure. Use Clamp (J-9519-23 ) and Adapters (J-9519-18 , J-9519-16 , and J-9519-17 ) to press ball joint into control arm.
