Master Cylinder: Reassembly

  1. Lubricate new reservoir grommets (if reservoir was removed) with clean brake fluid. Install grommets into master cylinder, ensuring grommets are seated properly. Place reservoir upside down on flat surface. Install master cylinder to reservoir using a rocking motion. See Fig 1 .

  2. Lubricate seals with clean brake fluid and install onto secondary piston. Install spring, spring retainer and secondary piston assembly into cylinder bore.
  3. Lubricate primary piston seals with clean brake fluid and install primary piston assembly into cylinder bore. Depress primary piston and install lock ring. Install proportioners and tighten to 24 ft. lbs. (31 N.m).
  4. Fill master cylinder with clean brake fluid and bleed master cylinder. See HYDRAULIC BRAKE BLEEDING  .
