Chart A-13, Codes 45/46/47/48 - Missing Wheel Sensor Signal

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 14 other vehicles, including the 1990 Pontiac Bonneville, 1990 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight, 1990 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight, 1990 Cadillac Fleetwood, and 1990 Cadillac DeVille. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. The EBCM compares wheel speed sensor signal to expected values and the output of the other wheel speed sensors. When a missing signal is detected, the EBCM will set one of these codes.
  2. Code 45 for left front wheel AND one other signal missing. It is impossible to determine from code information WHICH second signal is missing.
  3. Code 46 for right front wheel AND one other signal missing. It is impossible to determine from code information WHICH second signal is missing.
  4. Code 47 both left AND right rear wheel signals are missing. This code may be set if the car is on a hoist and front wheels spin (engine running and in gear). The "ANTI-LOCK" lamp may or may not remain on, depending on type of failure.
