Disc Calipers & Pads: Installation
- Lubricate mounting bolt bushings with silicone grease and install in mounting bolt holes. Using silicone lubricant, liberally fill mounting bolt holes between bushings. Install sleeves in caliper.
- Install inboard shoe in caliper with shoe retainer spring properly seated in caliper piston. Install outboard shoe in caliper with wear sensor at leading edge of pad with forward wheel rotation. On outboard pad with spring retainer, ensure spring buttons are properly seated in caliper housing.
- Mount caliper and torque mounting bolts to 38 ft. lbs. (51 N.m). Check clearance between mounting bracket and caliper. File ends of bracket stops if necessary to provide proper clearance. See Fig 1

- Install inlet fitting (if removed) and torque to 33 ft. lbs. (45 N.m). Refill master cylinder to proper level. On models with shoe tabs on outboard shoe, clinch to caliper. To clinch outboard shoes, wedge a large flat blade screwdriver or similar tool between the outboard shoe flange and the hat section of the rotor. See Fig 2

- Depress brake pedal to clamp pads to rotor. While maintaining pressure on brakes and prying up on shoe with screwdriver, hammer outboard shoe tabs at a 45-degree angle. See Fig 3
