Fuel Gauge (Open Test)
- Disconnect fuel tank unit connector and turn ignition switch to "RUN" position. Connect a fused jumper wire between Purple wire and ground. Gauge should read empty. If gauge does not read empty, check Purple wire for an open. Check printed circuit for flaws and for clean, tight fuel gauge connections. Replace fuel gauge if checks are okay.
- Connect fused jumper wire between Purple and Black/White wires. Fuel gauge should read empty. If gauge does not read empty, check Black/White wire for an open to ground. If fuel gauge indicates correctly in both tests, repair or replace fuel gauge sender and its wires.
