Installing The Tail Panel

NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side.

Pre-clean the bonding surfaces on the vehicle and on the new part with cleaning agent R2.
CONSUMABLE SPECIFICATION

Cleaning agent R2 500 ml 83190417324
Clean the bonding surfaces on the vehicle and on the new part with cleaning agent R1.
CONSUMABLE SPECIFICATION

Cleaning agent R1 100 ml, Bottle 83192211217
Apply adhesive K5 to bonding surfaces.
ADHESIVE SPECIFICATION

Body adhesive K5 195 ml 83195A59935
Install new part.

Tie back sheet metal cutouts (1).
In areas (1), make 2 bores of Ø 4.2 mm for blind rivets. For the exact position of the bores, see the following steps.

Rivet the new part in areas (1) to (3) with blind rivets N3.

Rivet the new part in areas (1) to (3) with blind rivets N3.

Ensure that there is sufficient adhesive in area (2). If necessary, apply the adhesive between the new part and the body later.
Rivet the new part in areas (1) and (2) with blind rivets N3.
Install the blind rivets in area (1) from outside to inside.

In the area (1), install 7 x punch rivets N4.

ø 3 mm; 4 mm long 83192457307
In areas (2), install one punch rivet N5 each.

ø 5 mm; 5 mm long 83192158079

In area (1), use 10 punch rivets N5.
Observe the three panel connection:
Observe the placement direction of the punch rivet: Place the punch rivets from inside to outside.

Installing the EMC screw
Drill a hole with a diameter of 4.2 mm.
In the case of glued connections, only drill the hole after the adhesive has fully hardened.
Screw in the EMC screw.

Seal the EMC screw with the sealant.

Sealant D1 (seam sealing) 310ml 83422409985

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Avoid contact of the escaped adhesive with the support for the bumper cover. Do not use any cleaning agents containing solvents.
Press in the rear trim panel in area (1) and remove the emerging adhesive.
Install the support for the bumper cover until the adhesive has hardened.
Install 3 EMC screws in areas (2) after the adhesive has hardened.
