Removing the radial shaft seal of the actuator shaft

WARNING: Working on 12 V electrical system.
Risk of short circuits! Risk of fire!

Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
Detach battery ground lead from battery.
For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.

Preliminary work

Refer to DISCONNECTING ALL BATTERY GROUND LEADS .
Refer to REMOVING TRANSMISSION CROSS-MEMBER .

Remove the connector (1) from the VTG control unit.

Release the screws (1) and remove the VTG control unit (2).

Screw in the special tool 0 491 454 (23 0 490) into the radial shaft seal (1).
Drive out the radial shaft seal (1) with an impact weight (2) in arrow direction.
