Removing the tension spring

Support hood/trunk lid in fully open position with the aid of a suitable device.

Preliminary work

Refer to REMOVING LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR COVERING .

Support hood/trunk lid in fully open position with the aid of a suitable device.

CAUTION: Tension spring.
Injury hazard!

Wear hand protection while removing and installing the tension spring.

NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.

Note down the position of the tension spring (1) on the rear holder (2).
Detach the tension spring (1) from the rear holder (2).
Feed out the tension spring (1) from the hinge (3).
