Replacing lock cylinder

WARNING: Working on 12 V electrical system.
Risk of short circuits! Risk of fire!

Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
Detach battery ground lead from battery.
For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.

NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.

Unclip the cover (1) at the points (2).
Remove cover panel (1).

Detach the locking rod (1).
Twist the lock cylinder (2) in clockwise direction and remove it.

Replace the lock cylinder.
Parts: lock barrel
Screw in the lock cylinder (2) counterclockwise.
Hook the locking rod (1) into the lock cylinder (2).
