Replacing the wheel carrier

Precondition

Wheel carrier removed.

Loosen screws (2).
Remove the brake guard plate (1).

Loosen screw (2).
Remove the vertical acceleration sensor (1).
Loosen screw (3).
Remove the holder (4).

Release the spherical-collar screws (arrows) with the special tool 2 472 903 .
Remove the wheel bearing (1).

Replace wheel carrier (2).
Parts: Wheel carrier
Recut the threads for the spherical-collar screws at the wheel bearing (3).
Clean the contact surfaces (1) of the wheel carrier (2) and the wheel bearing (3).
The contact surfaces (1) must be clean and free from oil and grease.

Position wheel bearing (1) on the wheel carrier.
Replace the spherical-collar screws (arrows).
Parts: Spherical-collar screw
Tighten the spherical-collar screws (arrows) with the special tool 2 472 903 .

TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

Wheel bearing to wheel carrier
M12 Replace spherical collar screws. Tighten the spherical-collar screws in crosswise sequence. The tightening sequence must be followed strictly and carried out on all spherical-collar screws at the same time!	Tightening torque	20 Nm
	Initial torque	140 Nm
	Unscrew all bolts.	max. 45°
	Tightening torque	120 Nm
	Angle of rotation	90°

Position the vertical acceleration sensor (1) on the wheel carrier.
Tighten down screw (2).

TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

Vertical acceleration sensor to wheel carrier
M6	Tightening torque	10 Nm

Position holder (4).
Replace the screw (3).
Parts: Screw
Tighten down screw (3).

TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

Holder of wheel speed sensor on wheel carrier
M6 Replace screw.	tightening torque	12 Nm

Position the brake guard plate (1) on the wheel carrier.
Replace screws (2).
Parts: Screws
Tighten down screws (2).

TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

Brake protection plate on the rear wheel carrier
M6x12 Replace screw.	tightening torque	8 Nm
