Installing the catalytic converter near engine, bottom at bank 2

- Feed catalytic converter near engine (3) out upwards.
- Position catalytic converter near engine (3) on stud bolts (1).
- Tighten nuts (2).

- Replace V-band clamp.

- Replace gasket.

- Slide the V-clip (1) towards the bottom onto the catalytic converter near engine.
- Position the V-clip (1) on the catalytic converter near engine.
- Tighten down screw (2).

Variant with gasoline particulate filter cylinder 5 through 8
- Guide in the differential pressure sensor upwards with the pressure line.
- Clip the differential pressure sensor (2) with the pressure pipe into the clamps (1).
- Tighten nut (2).

- Connect connectors (1) and lock.
- Grease the thread on the exhaust system with high-temperature assembly paste.

- Clip the pressure line (3) into the clamps (2).
- Tighten nut (1).

Positioning transmission
- Pump the transmission up with the special tools 0 495 498 (23 4 050) and 2 219 012 and position.

- Transmission must be secured to the support with the tensioning strap (1).
Fastening the prop shaft (partially removed)
- Check centering (1) for damage and replace if necessary.
- Apply a thin coat of grease to the soft centering (1), if necessary.
The hard centering (2) must not be greased.

- Replace the screws and the self-locking nuts.

- Assemble the screw connections (1) of the flexible disc (2) and the three-hole flange (3) according to the self-affixed identification.
This should prevent a humming noise from the drive train during driving.
- Hand-tighten screws and nuts (arrows), but do not tighten fully.
- Install central mount (1) into the transmission tunnel with the designation TOPPING facing upwards.
- Position central mount.
- Hand-tighten the bolts (1), but do not tighten fully.
- Replace screws.

- Counter-hold the screws of the flexible disc on the nut and tighten with the screws.

- Secure the special tool 0 490 504 (00 9 120) with the special tool 0 495 108 (00 9 130) on the vehicle underbody and continue to screw it in according to the angle of rotation.
- Tighten down screws (1).

Installing transmission cross member .
- Install the transmission cross member (2).
- Tighten down screws (1).

- Release the luggage strap (1) from the transmission.
- Remove the special tools 2 219 012 and 0 495 498 (23 4 050) .
Installing the heat shields
- Install heat shield (1).
- Tighten nuts and screws (arrows).

Install the stiffening plate
- Insert the thrust field (3) on the covers of the steering assembly (2) and position.
- Replace the bolts (arrows).

- Insert the undershield (1).
- Tighten all bolts and nuts (arrows).
Follow-up work
- Refer to INSTALLING HEAT SHIELD, TOP .
- Installing conduit on bank 2
- Clip the wiring harness (2) into the clamps (1).
- Installing cable duct at cylinder bank 1.
- Position the conduit (2).
- Tighten the screws (1).

- Installing the cover panel of the master DME control unit.
- Position the cover of the master DME control unit (1)
- Engage the cover panel of the master DME control unit (1) downwards with the clamps (2) and the guide pins (3) in the carrier plate of the DME.
- Refer to INSTALLING THE CENTER COWL UPPER PART .
- Refer to INSTALLING TENSION STRUT ON SHOCK TOWER .
- Refer to INSTALLING WINDSHIELD PANEL COVER .

- Installing the rear right engine compartment cover.
Remove the battery cover .
NOTE: The following step(s) must be performed if the listed component(s) is/are installed.- Remove the special tool 2 452 007 from the battery.
- Install the cover (2).
- Lock the lock (1).
- Refer to INSTALLING THE COVER OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON THE REAR LEFT .
- Refer to INSTALLING EXHAUST SYSTEM .
- Installing the rear tunnel connecting support.
- Position the connecting support (3) on the rear of the tunnel.
- Tighten the screws (1).TIGHTENING TORQUES
