Replacing the positive battery cable

Preliminary work
- Refer to DISCONNECTING ALL BATTERY GROUND LEADS .

Damage to battery terminal, the safety battery terminal or the intelligent battery sensor (IBS) .
Damaged battery terminals can lead to malfunctions or vehicle electrical system faults .

- Detach battery terminal from battery pole by carefully shifting to and fro. Do not pry off using a tool.
- Unclip the cover (1) at the detents (arrows).
- Remove the cover for the positive battery terminal (1).
- Slacken nut (2).
- Unlock and disconnect the connector (3) on the intelligent battery sensor (IBS).
- Loosen nut (4).
- Remove the positive battery cable (5).
- Replace the positive battery cable (5).

- Position the positive battery cable (5).
- Tighten nut (4).
TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION

- Connect and lock the connector (3) to the intelligent battery sensor (IBS).
- Tighten nut (2).

- Close the positive terminal cover (1).
- Clip in the cover (1).
- Check that the detents (arrows) are seated correctly.
