Disabling & Activating Air Bag System

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 173 other vehicles, including the 2003 Volvo XC90, 2003 Volvo XC70, 2003 Volvo V70, 2003 Volvo V40, and 2003 Volvo S80. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Saab vehicles are equipped with seat belt pretensioners. The SRS controls both air bags and seat belt pretensioners.
NOTE: The control module has 3 backup power sources. Two of them enable the front air bags to be activated for a minimum of 150 milliseconds after the regular power supply has failed and the third backup power source keeps the processor going for 150 milliseconds after the regular power supply has failed.

To disable SRS, disconnect and shield negative battery cable. To activate system, reconnect negative battery cable. Perform a system operation check. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
