WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 173 other vehicles, including the 2003 Volvo XC90, 2003 Volvo XC70, 2003 Volvo V70, 2003 Volvo V40, and 2003 Volvo S80. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable. WAIT at least 3 minutes before beginning installation or replacement of the SRS unit, or connecting the connectors from the SRS unit. After completing repairs, ensure all SRS components have been reconnected. Reconnect negative battery cable. Check SRS indicator light to ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . Enter radio theft code, then reprogram radio frequencies, set the clock and go to next step.
  2. NOTE: When battery is disconnected, the idle learn procedure must be performed so ECM/PCM can learn engine idle characteristics. If radiator cooling fan comes on, do not include its running time in the 5 minutes.
  3. Perform ECM idle learn procedure. Ensure all electrical loads (A/C, audio, rear defogger, lights, etc.) are off. Start engine, and hold speed at 3000 RPM with no load (in Park or Neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, or until the engine coolant temperature reaches 194°F (90°C). Allow engine to idle for about 5 minutes with throttle fully closed. When procedure is completed, go to next step.
  4. NOTE: Perform power window control unit resetting procedure. Resetting power window control unit is required when battery is disconnected.
  5. Ensure driver's window does not work in AUTO with ignition switch in ON position. Start engine. Lower driver's window all the way down by pushing driver's power window switch to second detent; when window reaches the bottom, hold switch in DOWN position for 2 seconds. Raise driver's window all way up without stopping by pulling driver's power window switch to second detent. When window reaches the top, hold switch in UP position for 2 seconds. If window does not work in AUTO, repeat procedure.
