Notes on head-up display (M4 2021-2023)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2025 BMW M4, 2024 BMW M4, 2023 BMW M4, 2022 BMW M4, and 2021 BMW M4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: A special windshield must be fitted to ensure that the Head-Up Display image can be projected correctly.
This windshield comprises three sections. An outer and an inner glass pane are connected by a wedge-shaped plastic film.
The wedge shape prevents double projection of the Head-Up Display.
When the windshield is replaced, the vehicle identification number and applicable BMW parts catalogue must be checked to ascertain whether the windshield in question is suitable for HUD.

Example of the display with a conventional windshield:

With a conventional windshield, the projected image is reflected on the inner and outer glass pane, producing a double image.
