Removing the exhaust camshaft (cylinder head removed)

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The special tool 83 30 2 410 670 is used for depressing the valves from the second cylinder for a tension-free disassembly or installation of the exhaust camshaft. Due to technical modifications in the S58B30T0, the thrust pieces 83 30 2 468 424 are mounted on the existing special tool.

- Have the special tool 0 495 741 (11 8 552)
ready.
- Have the special tool 2 410 670
ready.
- Have the special tool 2 468 424
ready.
- Prepare the special tools.
Number Description 11 8 552 Knurled screws 2 410 670 Stand 2 468 424 Synchronizing key - Position the special tool 2 410 670 at cylinder 2 and hand-tighten it with the special tool 0 495 741 (11 8 552) from the set of special tools 0 495 739 (11 8 550) .
- Screw in both roller cam followers (1) on cylinder 2 with the help of the spindle nut (2) of special tool 2 410 670 in arrow direction up to the stop .
- Make sure the special tool 2 468 424
is correctly positioned on the roller cam follower (2).
- Feed out and remove the roller tappet (1) in the marked
area from the two high-pressure pump brackets.
- When removing the high-pressure pump bracket (1) and (2), observe that the high pressure pump bracket (1) and (2) are numbered in the marked area
.
- Pay attention to the numbering on the exhaust camshaft bearing cap.
The exhaust camshaft bearing caps are numbered with (A1) and (A2) and stored according to their numbering in the special tool 0 495 105 (11 4 480) .
The exhaust camshaft bearing caps are legible from the intake side.
The exhaust camshaft bearing cap (A) is a thrust bearing.
- High-pressure pump bracket (1) is numbered for the cylinder 4
and is stored accordingly in the special tool 0 495 105 (11 4 480)
.
- High-pressure pump bracket (2) is numbered for the cylinder 3 and is stored accordingly in the special tool 0 495 105 (11 4 480) .
- Release screws in the sequence (14) to (1) in half turns .
- Feed out and remove all the exhaust camshaft bearing caps (A1) to (A2) and the exhaust camshaft bearing cap (A).
- Place all exhaust camshaft bearing cap in order in special tool 0 495 105 (11 4 480) .
- Feed out and remove the high pressure pump bracket (1) and (2).
- Store the high pressure pump brackets (1) and (2) arranged in the special tool 0 495 105 (11 4 480)
.
- Feed out the exhaust camshaft (1) upwards and remove it.
