Adjusting door window glass
Precondition
The vehicle is supported on all the wheels at ground level.
The front door is adjusted correctly.
The battery charger is connected (full operability of the power electric windows during the adjustment work is assured only with external voltage supply).
- Open the door, if necessary move the door window glass to the top-most position.
- Insert special tool 5 A45 BD8 with special tool 5 A4A 389 into the rotary striker of the door lock and manually lock the rotary striker (door window glass moves all the way up).
- Close the door carefully until the special tool 5 A45 BD8 is on the striker (defined opening angle for the
measurement).
- Do not exert any force on the door or the door window glass during measurement.
- Bring the special tool 0 496 456 (51 0 342) into position on the seal (1) and the door window glass (2) .
- Determine the dimension for the preload between the seal (1)
and the outer edge of the doorwlndow glass (2)

Nominal dimension = 55 ± 1 mm
- Open door and remove the sealing cap on doorframe.
- Feed In the special tool 2 351 398 into the door and fix on the nut (1) and the guide (2) .
- Loosen the nut (1) with the knob (3) .
- Set the preload by turning at the lever (4)

Nominal dimension = 55 ± 1 mm
- Tighten nut (1)
.TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Power electric windows to inner door panel M6 Tightening torque 9.5 Nm - Check setting, repeat process If necessary.
- Remove special tool 2 351 398 and fit the seal plug.
- Remove special tool 5 A45 BD8 from the rotary striker of the door lock.
- Insert special tool 2 356 862
on the doorwlndow glass with the holder 5 mm (1)
In locked position (A)

- Open door.
- Place the special tool 2 356 862
on the door window glass as shown.
Approx. displaced by 40 mm inwards in each case.
- Close door.
- Measure retraction depth
Nominal dimension: 5.5 ± 1 mm
- Attach the special tool 2 359 976 to the door window glass in such a way that the multi-tooth screws on the doorwindow glass are still accessible.
- Release adjustment lever (1) by twisting.
- Set the retraction depth of the side window (1)
by shifting the adjustment lever.
Nominal dimension: 5.5 ± 1 mm
- Tighten adjustment lever (1)

- Adjust the door window glass (1)
so that it is parallel with the rear side window (2)

Dimension (A) = 8.0 ± 1 mm
Tighten the front door window glass
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
When using special tools that extend the lever arm of the torque wrench, the setpoint torque deviates from the adjustable torque.NOTE: Schematic diagram is for example purposes. Some parts may differ in certain details. - Converting the setpoint torque into the adjustable torque:
(Setpoint torque * L1)/L2 = Torque to be set
L1 = length from the center of the grip to the reversible ratchet head
L2 = length from the center of the grip to the center point of the ring on the special tool
- Tighten multi-point nuts (1)
on the doorwindow glass in the front using special tool 2 360 051 B
and a torque wrench.TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Toothed nut of side window Multi-tooth nut tightening torque 11 Nm
Precondition

Front door correctly fitted.
The battery charger is connected (only with external voltage supply during the adjustment work is the full operability of the power electric windows assured).
- Open the door, if necessary move the door window glass to the top-most position.
- Insert special tool 5 A45 BD8 with special tool 5 A4A 389 into the rotary striker of the door lock and manually lock the rotary striker (door window glass moves all the way up).
- Close the door carefully until the special tool 5 A45 BD8 is on the striker (defined opening angle for the
measurement).
- Do not exert any force on the door or the door window glass during measurement.
- Bring the special tool 0 496 456 (51 0 342)
into position on the seal (1) and the door window glass (2).
Fit the special tool 0 496 456 (51 0 342) about 3.5 cm forwards from the corner of the door window glass.
- Determine the dimension for the preload between the seal (1) and the outer edge of the doorwindow glass (2).
Nominal dimension = 60 ± 1 mm
- Open door and remove the sealing cap on doorframe.
- Feed in the special tool 2 351 398 into the door and fix on the nut (1) and the guide (2).
- Loosen the nut (1) with the knob (3).
- Set the preload by turning at the lever (4).
Nominal dimension = 60 ± 1 mm
- Tighten nut (1).
- Check setting, repeat process if necessary.
- Remove special tool 2 351 398 and fit the seal plug.
- Remove special tool 5 A45 BD8 from the rotary striker of the door lock.
- Insert special tool 2 356 862
with the holder (5 mm) (1) onto the doorwindow glass in locked state (A).
Close the door and release the lock (2) (B).
- Open door.
- Place the special tool 2 356 862
on the door window glass as shown.
Approx. displaced by 40 mm Inwards In each case.
- Close door.
- Measure retraction depth
Front nominal dimension: 5.5 ± 1 mm
Rear nominal dimension: 8.0 ± 1 mm
- Attach the special tool 2 359 976 to the door window glass in such a way that the multi-tooth screws on the doorwindow glass are still accessible.
- Release adjustment lever (1) by twisting.
- Set the retraction depth of the side window (1) by shifting the adjustment lever.
Front nominal dimension: 5.5 ± 1 mm
Rear nominal dimension: 8.0 ± 1 mm
- Tighten adjustment lever (1).
- Set the doorwindow glass (1) parallel to the rear side window (2).
Dimension (A) = 15 ± 1 mm
Tighten the front door window glass
