Shock Absorber: Removal

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 42 other vehicles, including the 2006 BMW 330Ci, 2006 BMW 325Ci, 2005 BMW 330xi, 2005 BMW 330i, and 2005 BMW 330Ci. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove rear wheel.
  2. Remove trunk trim panel if necessary.
  3. Support trailing arm on workshop lifter (1) and release bolt. See Fig 1.
  4. If vehicle is a non-convertible, to to step  7. If vehicle is a convertible, go to next step.
  5. Open soft top compartment cover. Remove plastic covers (1) in soft top compartment. See Fig 2.
  6. Release nuts (1) and remove shock absorber downwards. See Fig 3. Go to step  8.
  7. Unscrew nuts. See Fig 4.
  8. If a reinforcement plate (1) is fitted on left side of vehicle, you must reinstall reinforcing plate (1) and seal left and right support bearing with butylene tape (2). See Fig 5.
