Lifting the rear axle differential

RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to rear axle differential.
If the rear axle differential drops down, persons can be injured or the rear axle differential can be damaged.

- Secure the rear axle differential using a luggage strap.
- Lift and position the rear axle differential (1) with the special tool 0 495 827 (23 4 150)
in arrow direction.
- Replace screws (1).

- Screw in the screws (1) using hand force and tighten.TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Rear differential to rear axle carrier, front M12
Replace screw.Joining torque 100 Nm Angle of rotation 90° - Replace the screw (1).

- Insert the screw (1).
- Replace nut (1).

- Tighten nut (1).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Rear differential to rear axle carrier, rear M14
Replace screw and nut.Joining torque 165 Nm Angle of rotation 90° - Tighten down screws (1).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Central mount to body M8 Tightening torque 19 Nm - Loosen and remove the special tool 0 496 080 (33 5 206) from the rear axle differential (1).
- Lower the universal jack with the special tool 0 495 827 (23 4 150) and set it aside.
- Position the ground strap (2).
- Tighten nut (1).
TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION

- Secure the cables on the holders (3).
- Connect connectors (1) and (2) and lock.
