Installing upper oil sump section (engine removed)

NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE 
Careless handling of tools and sharp-edged components. 
Scratches, surface damage. 
  • Protect working area.
  • Handle tools and components carefully.
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION 
Clean all threaded belt connections  with micro-encapsulated outer and internal threads.
Shavings or other debris must not remain in the components.
If a microencapsulated screw is reused, it must be coated with the following screw locking agent: Loctite 243, medium strength  .
The screw connection must be completed within 10 minutes as hardening begins after this period.
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION 
Microencapsulated screws must be replaced and may not be reused.
The screw lining must be completed within 10 minutes, as the hardening begins after this time period. Microencapsulated screws must not be retightened.
NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE 
Damage to the surface. 
The use of metal-cutting tools (e.g., emery cloths) for cleaning surfaces can damage them and lead to leaks and/or engine damage. 
  • Do not use any metal-cutting tools.

TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION

Upper oil sump section to crankcase (M6x25) 
M6x25 screw Tightening torque  10 Nm

TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION

Upper oil sump section to crankcase (M8x45) 
M8x45 screw
Replace screw.
tightening torque  24 Nm

Following the tightening sequence 3 for the upper oil sump section

Upper oil sump section to crankcase (M6x25) 
M6x25 screw Angle of rotation  90°

TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION

Upper oil sump section to crankcase (M8x45) 
M8x45 screw
Replace screw.
tightening torque  24 Nm

TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION

Upper oil sump section to crankcase (M6x25) 
M6x25 screw Tightening torque  10 Nm

Replace oil filter element 

Replacing the oil filter element with the oil drain plug 

Oil filter element (5) must engage audibly.

Replacing the oil filter element without the oil drain plug 

Oil filter element (3) must engage audibly.

Cleaning the oil filter element and oil filter housing 

NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE 
Contaminant or foreign body. 
Contamination can result in malfunctions, loss of function or leaks. 
  • Adhere to the utmost cleanliness.
  • Protect components from contamination e.g. by covering.
  • Close off line connections with seal plugs.
