- Do vehicles have to be parked with the protective film in the showroom?
No, vehicles must be protected only when they are stored outside.
Remove the protective film before parking in the showroom.
- What must the dealer do if he receives vehicles on which the protective film has folds and bubbles?
In this case, the protective film for stock vehicles remains on the vehicle and must be removed as described.
Paint swelling will disappear within 48 hours.
Polishing of the surfaces is necessary only in rare cases.
- What should the dealer do in the case of surface damage that becomes visible after removal of the protective film (up to 9 months after application of the protective film at the works F2)?
Surface damage must be repaired in accordance with the standard process (e.g. polishing, repainting).
Damage under the protective film must be invoiced on warranty level 4.
- For which vehicle types can the surface protection be used? Only for CBU or also for CKD?
The surface protection can generally also be used for CKD vehicles. For example, all Russian vehicles from the Kaliningrad works have been provided with the protective film as from January 2014.
The procedure for the other CKD markets must be agreed on with the "Surface protection" project, the planning department and responsible market representatives. There is currently no timeline for these markets, and the main focus in on the CBU vehicles.
- Is the protective film a newly developed solution or is the surface protection by protective film as already used in some markets just being extended for other markets?
After selection of certain criteria, the surface protection by means of protective film will be extended in a second step to other markets in 2014. The protective film is the same as used before.
- Is the protective film used only for BMW models or also for MINI models?
The film is also applied to MINI models (Graz and Oxford works).
- Do markets that already order the SA9AA (surface protection) still have to order this optional equipment?
Yes, in these cases the SA9AA must still be ordered.
- Can the optional equipment SA9AA be ordered only for dark colored vehicles?
The optional equipment SA9AA can be used for all colors, except for the following:

For stock vehicles, the optional equipment SA9AA (surface protection) is centrally assigned to every country PAK number. This means that local ordering of SA9AA is not required-
- Are there any exceptions for markets in which all vehicles are provided with protective film?
If the market orders vehicles with SA9AB (active deselection of the surface protection), the vehicle will be delivered without the surface protection (SA9AA).
