Close the locking ring

- When working on the fuel system, make sure the workstation has sufficient ventilation, e.g., by means of extraction.
- Tightly seal off open lines and connections; collect any leakage fuel directly at the point of exit.
- No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.

All the new delivery units are delivered in equipment specification with parked-car heating.
For these vehicles, the connection on the flange lid must be closed with a lock.
The lock must be ordered separately, refer to applicable BMW parts catalogue.

- Set special tool 2 452 189 (1) on locking ring (2).
- Connect special tool 0 495 554 (33 5 070) using a reversible ratchet head of 1/2 inch (3) and set it on special tool 2 452 189 .
- Tighten locking ring (2) in clockwise direction.
- Make sure that the locking ring to the fuel tank is engaged correctly.
- Check the locking mechanisms of the snap fastener for damage and replace if necessary.
- Ensure that the snap-in lugs (1) and (2) engage correctly.
- Mount and lock the snap fastener.
The snap fastener must be seen and heard to engage.
- Ensure correct locking of the snap fastener by means of a tensile sample.
- Connect connector (3).
- Replace the seal (1).

- Mount the cover (2).
The arrow must point in the direction of travel.
- Replace plastic nuts.

- Insert plastic nuts (1) and tighten.TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
