Check the VANOS adjuster of cylinder bank 2

Check
- Check the lock of intake and exhaust camshaft adjusters.
- Position open-end spanner (1) on the hexagon head of the camshaft (2) .
- Move open-end spanner slightly back and forward in direction of arrow.
- The camshafts must have a frictional connection to the VANOS adjusters (2) .
Result
» Camshafts are connected to the VANOS adjusters (2) with frictional connections.
Measure
- Continue the repair with the next step.
Result
» If no frictional connection exists, replace the affected VANOS adjuster.
Measure
- Replace the affected VANOS adjuster.

- Check timing again.
