Reinforcement Plate: Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 34 other vehicles, including the 2006 BMW M3, 2006 BMW 330Ci, 2006 BMW 325Ci, 2005 BMW M3, and 2005 BMW 330i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

On vehicles from 02/2001, use new 66 mm diameter control arm bearings and a new reinforcement plate. For these larger control arm bearings, there must be an impression (1) on the left/right in the reinforcement plate (2). See Fig 1.
On vehicles up to 02/2001 with control arm bearing diameter 66 mm and old reinforcement plate without impression, insert a washer in each case at rear screw-down points between reinforcement plate and body. For correct washer contact BMW Parts Service.
On all vehicles, tighten down screws (3) after screws (1, 2). See Figure.
Replace screws (1, 2) and tighten to torque and then to angle of rotation with special tool (00 9 120). See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
